EMS - STEMI and Cardiac Resuscitation

Updated:Apr 16,2012

Mission: Lifeline

First line of defense for STEMI and cardiac resuscitation patients.

The American Heart Association recognizes the critical role of emergency medical service professionals. STEMI and cardiac resuscitation systems of care cannot be effective without the valuable contributions of our first responders.

The challenges faced by EMS teams vary widely based on geography and resources — from densely populated cities to vast rural areas and everything in between. Our goal at the American Heart Association is to help coordinate efforts that allow these professionals to remove barriers to providing timely treatment for STEMI and cardiac resuscitation. Resources such as standardized protocols, regular educational opportunities, feedback mechanisms, and quality improvement programs will help to improve the coordination of care and empower them to save more lives.
