Not much into running? Then just walk — it can lower your risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes as much as running can.
A new study found if the same amount of energy is used, moderate intensity walking and vigorous intensity running can lead to similar reductions in risk.
The more people walked or ran each week, the more their health benefits increased.
For the study, researchers measured energy by distance rather than time. So runners recorded twice as much exercise as walkers. But walking may be a more sustainable activity for some people when compared to running.
