Addressing Nutrition Insecurity in Southern Nevada
Nutrition security is a major issue in Southern Nevada. Nutrition insecurity means a person is struggling to get enough healthy food, or has to make tough choices between healthy food and other needs. It is estimated that as many as 1 in 5 people in Southern Nevada experienced food insecurity in 2020. Although nutrition insecurity is not a new problem, the pandemic made it worse. The American Heart Association believes in the right to healthy food for all people to live their best lives. That's why we're working to improve nutrition and food security for everyone, everywhere in America. In Las Vegas, the American Heart Association collaborated with The Just One Project and CenterWell Senior Primary Care to reach thousands of seniors potentially impacted by nutrition insecurity. This video shows how this collaboration is making inroads on nutrition insecurity in Southern Nevada.
