Smoke-free Multi-unit Housing
Searching for your Next Smoke-Free Home?
The American Heart Association – Heart REACH in El Paso is working with multi-unit housing communities throughout El Paso County to help protect residents from the dangers of secondhand smoke. There is no safe level of secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke can travel through doorways, windows, wall joints, plumbing spaces, and even light fixtures, so secondhand smoke from one unit can adversely affect the health of residents in other units. One of the best ways to protect residents from secondhand smoke is through the voluntary adoption of a smoke-free housing policy. Smoke-free policies are legal, easy to implement, create a safe environment for residents and can result in cost savings.
