Hawai'i Faces
of Heart

For 100 years, the American Heart Association, along with our volunteers, supporters and collaborating organizations, has worked to build longer, healthier lives.

Who are the Faces of Heart in Hawai'i? They are the heart and soul of our community—individuals who’ve selflessly given their time, shared their stories, and championed our mission. YOU are part of this incredible journey.

As we mark our centennial, we’re opening our hearts and sharing our stories. Join us, listen in, and add your voice to the chorus of hope and healing.

And there’s no letting up in the next 100 years as we remain devoted to a future of health and hope for everyone, everywhere.

Mila Yarnell

At birth, Mila Yarnell was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. At just 5 months old Mila underwent heart surgery to repair her heart, a challenging journey for such a young baby and her family.

Today, Mila is a vibrant and active child. Through the Kids Heart Challenge, she’s found a way to give back and inspire others. Mila gave an empowering speech at her school and as part of the American Heart Association’s Faces of Heart campaign, Mila encourages others to "look out for their hearts, so they can live longer, healthier lives."

Stories like Mila’s, and those of countless other survivors, form the heart and soul of the American Heart Association. For 100 years, we’ve led the way in scientific discovery and healthcare transformation. And with our Bold Hearts centennial celebration, supported by donors like you, we’re committed to another century of lifesaving work.

Mahalo, Mila and her family, for being an inspiring part of our mission!
