The American Heart Association launched the Nation of Lifesavers™ in 2023 after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin experienced sudden cardiac arrest during Monday Night Football.

The American Heart Association is the global leader in resuscitation science, education and training, and publisher of the official guidelines for CPR. The AHA’s collaboration with the NFL reinforces our unwavering commitment to CPR education. Our goal is to double survival rates of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by 2030 .

It takes just 90 seconds to learn Hands-Only CPR, which can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. The American Heart Association and the NFL are actively putting cleats on the field to educate more people and help save lives.
